Book launch: "True Story" by Danielle Lindemann
Professor Danielle Lindemann's latest book, True Story: What Reality TV Says About Us, has been published by Farrar, Straus and Giroux. The publisher describes it as a "sociological study of reality TV that explores its rise as a culture-dominating medium—and what the genre reveals about our attitudes toward race, gender, class, and sexuality."
True Story has been reviewed in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Chicago Review of Books, Publishers Weekly, Esquire, and many other outlets. An excerpt from the book has appeared in The Atlantic. True Story has been named to Esquire's "Best new books" list and to "must-read" lists by The National Book Review, AV Club, Lit Hub, and Vulture, among others. Professor Lindemann has also been interviewed about her analysis of reality television by ABC News, WNYC, and CTV.
Congrats to our colleague for bringing the insights of sociology to a wide audience!
