Cynthia Pando wins grad student research grant

Sociology M.A. student Cynthia Pando is one of 11 graduate students honored with a 2017-18 College of Arts & Sciences Graduate Research Grant. Her project will study the effects of immigration status, focusing specifically on US citizen children who are older than 18. Her research objective is to assess how parents’ immigration status affects their children’s physical and mental wellbeing. She plans to conduct phone interviews with residents of the Phoenix, Chicago, Los Angeles, and North Carolina areas and use qualitative software to analyze her findings.

Good luck Cynthia on this new endeavor!
