Sociology and Anthropology is a thriving department with an outstanding faculty who have received recognition and awards for both teaching and research. We are actively involved in many inter-disciplinary programs such as Africana Studies, Cognitive Science, Globalization and Social Change, Health Medicine and Society, Environmental Initiative, and Women’s Studies.

Our Majors. Our students graduate with state-of-the-art training in scientific inquiry, including research methods, statistics, and a deep understanding of social and cultural behaviors. Our students tell us that they value not only what they learn through courses, internships, and independent research, but also how much they appreciate the personalized attention and active mentoring they receive from faculty.
Careers. Our majors go on to graduate school in social sciences, law, medicine, or education or to positions in business, social services, marketing, and a wide variety of other fields. Graduates may go on to attend highly distinguished Ph.D. programs, or obtain positions in research, administration, or education.
