How many paper nakpins did you use today? Toilet paper? Paper towels, plates, disposable coffee cups, tissues to blow your nose?

America’s demand for paper products requires over a million trees be planted EVERY YEAR to replenish harvested forests. They’re planted mainly by Mexican men on migrant visas, who each plant 3,000 trees a day, for 9 months every year.

We invite you to attend this award winning documentary screening and then talk to the anthropologist-director Noam Osband about the human side of immigration, consumerism, climate change, and mental health in times of isolation.

More information about the documentary is available on its website: https://athousandpinesfilm.com

This event is cosponsored with the Environmental Studies, Film Studies, Global Studies, and Latin American Studies departments.

This is an approved 5x10 event and is open to the entire university community and the public.  Refreshments available.
